Summary There is one MacLeod Scholarship available for the 2021-22 academic year. Description The MacLeod Scholarship will cover full time campus based Home Tuition Fees for a maximum of three years. Depending on the nature of the postgraduate degree, the scholarship may be awarded either for one year or for a maximum of three years. Eligibility The scholarship is open to applicants holding an offer of admission for a full time campus based postgraduate degree programme starting in September 2021, in line with the following criteria: Subject of Study: The first preference shall be given to applicants whose research field is Modern Gaelic and/or Ecclesiastical research, and the second preference for general Gaelic language or culture. Applicants working in any field in the religious or cultural experience of the Highlands and Islands would also be eligible to apply. In the event that an applicant can not be identified in the above subject areas, applicants with research interests in the Humanities and Social Sciences will be eligible for the scholarship, with a specific preference for those studying areas focussing on the rights and responsibilities of citizens relative to communities in the state. Candidates: Preference will be given, in order of priority, to postgraduate applicants from the Isle of Berneray, from the Outer Hebrides or from the Highlands and Islands. If no suitable applicants are identified from these regions, a candidate from elsewhere in Scotland will be selected. Applicants must be classified by the University as Home or Rest of UK for tuition fee purposes. Criteria The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
