GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by Liverpool John Moores University and the British Council. The award is worth £10,000 towards tuition for a one-year Masters programme.

How much will the award be worth?

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year master’s programme to students from Bangladesh, Egypt, and Indonesia to study with us at Liverpool John Moores University.

Eligible Programmes

• MA Education.

• MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology.

• MSc Biomedical Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

• have an offer of study and have firmly accepted their place before they are eligible to apply for scholarship funding.

• not have already studied a postgraduate taught degree.

• have the funds to cover the rest of the tuition, living costs, travel and any other associated costs associated with studying at LJMU.

• be a passport holder and national of Bangladesh, Egypt or Indonesia and classed as an overseas student for fee purposes.

Applications are now open and close 15 May 2024.

LJMU are pleased to be able to offer eligible applicants a £3,000 tuition fee discount towards each year of their studies. All achievement scholarships are awarded automatically to all who fit the essential criteria as stated below.

Successful candidates must:

• be self-funded,

• meet the conditions stated in their full-time, undergraduate course offer letter,

• not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorship,

• and be studying full time at Liverpool John Moores University.

You do not need to apply for this award. If you meet the above criteria, we will send an update of your scholarship status in the unconditional offer letter for your course.

As such, LJMU are pleased to be able to offer eligible applicants a £3,000 tuition fee discount towards each year of their studies. All achievement scholarships are awarded automatically to all who fit the essential criteria as stated below.

• meet the conditions stated in their full-time, postgraduate taught course offer letter,

• not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorships,

• and be studying full at Liverpool John Moores University.

You do not need to apply for this award. If you meet the above criteria, the scholarship will automatically be applied we will send an update of your scholarship status in the unconditional offer letter for your course.

Please note, this award cannot be combined with any other LJMU scholarships or discounts. If you are eligible for two scholarships or discounts, we will automatically award you the one of the highest value.

LJMU offer scholarships to postgraduate students wishing to study with us from overseas. We do this in the form of tuition fee reductions and working alongside other external funding councils to produce many options for our students.

Am I eligible?

In order to qualify for one of the below scholarships, you must first meet a set list of criteria. Awards will be granted upon candidates meeting all conditions along with the presentation of an outstanding application and supporting documentation. 

Essential criteria

Candidates must:

• have an offer of study and have firmly accepted their place before they are eligible to apply for scholarship funding.

• not have already studied a postgraduate taught degree at LJMU (unless applying for PhD study funding).

• have the funds to cover the remaining living costs, travel and any other costs associated with studying at the University.

We want to encourage ambitious students from countries worldwide to study with us at Liverpool John Moores University. As such, LJMU are pleased to be able to offer eligible applicants from selected regions up to a £4,000 tuition fee discount. All country scholarships are awarded automatically to all who fit the essential criteria as stated below.

• Country Scholarship A: Offers eligible students who enrol in September 2024 or January 2025 a £3,500 tuition fee discount.

• Country Scholarship B: Offers eligible students who enrol in September 2024 or January 2025 a £4,000 tuition fee discount.

Eligible students from all other international countries, who enrol in September 2024 or January 2025, will receive our International Postgraduate Achievement Scholarship.

Eligibility

Country A (£3,500 scholarships).

Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Nigeria, Oman, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Uganda.

Country B (£4,000 scholarships).

Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Nepal, Philippines, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe.

In addition, successful candidates must:

• be self-funded.

• meet the conditions stated in their full-time, postgraduate taught course offer letter.

• not also have funding from other external sources such as government or employer sponsorships.

• be studying full at Liverpool John Moores University.

You do not need to apply for this award. If you meet the above criteria, the scholarship will automatically be applied, and we will send an update of your scholarship status in your Certificate of Acceptance of Studies (CAS).

Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis based on the following criteria:

Sporting criteria

Liverpool John Moores University encourages applications from elite athletes competing in any recognised BUSA, World University Games, Commonwealth games and Olympic games sport. We will offer Sports Scholarship support to athletes from sports that Liverpool John Moores University is best equipped to provide for, in terms of coaching expertise, sports science expertise and facilities.

Junior or Senior International standard athletes from all sports are encouraged to apply, as are athletes competing at elite club level.

It should be noted that the competitive level benchmarks detailed above serve as preliminary guidelines for the level of athlete eligible to apply. Meeting these guidelines does not guarantee a Liverpool John Moores University Sports Scholarship.

Sports Scholars will have the potential and dedication to reach world-class potential or performance level (or equivalent) in their sport.

Academic criteria

Sports Scholarships are available to both existing Liverpool John Moores University students and prospective Liverpool John Moores University students. The Sports Scholarship Scheme is university-wide. Students applying for a Liverpool John Moores University Sports Scholarship can study any Liverpool John Moores University course both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Liverpool John Moores University Sports Scholars are athletes who have fulfilled the normal academic requirements for undergraduate or postgraduate entry and are enrolled on a Liverpool John Moores University course.

Sports Scholars must make satisfactory progress in both their sporting and academic pursuits to have their Scholarship renewed annually.

Am I eligible?

In order to qualify you must:

• Be a self-funded international student.

• Meet the conditions stated in your full-time, undergraduate (UG) course offer letter.

Essential criteria

Candidates must:

• must have an offer and have firmly accepted their place before they are eligible to apply.

• not have already studied an undergraduate degree at LJMU.

• have the funds to cover the remaining living costs, travel and any other costs associated with studying at the University.
