Scholarships at Universidad de Sheffield

Scholarships of up to £2,000 will be awarded in recognition of academic excellence to overseas fee students starting an undergraduate degree September 2024 in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield.

Conditions of scholarship amount

The scholarship amount awarded is dependent on academic achievement, qualification equivalent to A levels:

• £1,000 for A*A*A including an A* in Mathematics.

• £2,000 for A*A*A* including an A* in Mathematics.

Eligibility

To be eligible for an Excellence Scholarship you must:

• attain A level grades of A*A*A (or above), or equivalent, including an A* in Mathematics.

• make the University of Sheffield your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process for 2024 entry.

• apply to study a full-time undergraduate programme in the Department of Computer Science.

• be classed as an overseas fee student for tuition fee purposes.

• be taking all prerequisite subjects for your selected degree.

Once in receipt of this scholarship, you will be awarded £1,000 each subsequent academic year subject to maintaining a 70% overall average mark in the previous academic year.

Terms and conditions

• Receipt of the scholarship in subsequent years of study is subject to you achieving 70% overall average mark in the previous academic year. The scholarship will be withdrawn if you fail to achieve 70% and it will not be reinstated in the following year.

• You will not receive the scholarship during any optional or compulsory study abroad periods or year in industry.

• Students taking the University of Sheffield International College pathway program are not eligible for the scholarship.

• The scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships as long as the individual does not become fully funded for tuition fee purposes, as a result of the sum of these awards.

The scholarship is a competitive award worth £10,000 towards the tuition fee for an undergraduate degree programme starting in autumn 2024. The scholarship is available for new students joining the University in 2024 from a Delhi Public School Society (DPS) institution in India. You must hold an offer to study at the University of Sheffield before you apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

• You must be currently studying at a Delhi Public School Society (DPS) institution in India.

• You must receive an offer to study a full-time or part-time undergraduate degree or foundation degree programme at the University of Sheffield before you can apply for this scholarship.

• Your degree/foundation programme must be scheduled to commence at the University of Sheffield in September 2024. All undergraduate degree courses are eligible with the exceptions of Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).

• You must receive an offer for a course studied in full at the University of Sheffield. Degree programmes split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution are not eligible to apply for a scholarship.

• For tuition fee purposes you must be self-funded and eligible to pay the overseas tuition fee.

• You must not be a sponsored student.

• You must enter a degree programme at the University of Sheffield in programme year 1 or year 2.

• For scholarship purposes all MArch programmes are considered as postgraduate taught programmes and are not eligible for any undergraduate scholarships.

• The University of Sheffield reserves the right to review and change scholarship provision.

The scholarship will be awarded to overseas fee status undergraduate students who exceed the academic conditions of our standard UCAS offer. Candidates who attain A level grades of A*AA or above will receive the Excellence Scholarship.

To be eligible you must:

• make The University of Sheffield your first (firm) choice in the UCAS application process for 2024 entry.

• be an undergraduate student.

• be classed as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes.

• be taking all prerequisite subjects for your selected degree.

Conditions of scholarship amount

We will offer the scholarship in the form of a cash bursary at the start of your course should you be eligible. 

The scholarship amount is dependent on your academic achievement:

Once in receipt of this scholarship, you will be awarded £1,000 each subsequent academic year subject to maintaining a 70% overall average mark in the previous academic year.

• Receipt of the scholarship in subsequent years of study is subject to you achieving 70% overall average mark in the previous academic year. The scholarship will be withdrawn if you fail to achieve 70% and it will not be reinstated in the following year.

• You must be currently studying at a GEMS institution in the United Arab Emirates.

• You must receive an offer to study a full-time or part-time undergraduate degree or foundation degree programme at the University of Sheffield before you can apply for this scholarship.

• Your degree/foundation programme must be scheduled to commence at the University of Sheffield in September 2024. All undergraduate degree courses are eligible with the exceptions of Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).

• You must receive an offer for a course studied in full at the University of Sheffield. Degree programmes split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution are not eligible to apply for a scholarship.

• These scholarships are not applicable to any postgraduate courses where the higher clinical fee is applicable, this includes, but is not exclusive to the following courses:

  • DClinDent Orthodontics

  • MClinDent in Orthodontics

  • DClinDent Endodontics

• You must enter a degree programme at the University of Sheffield in year 1. If you are entering in year 2, you would be eligible for this scholarship, providing you are not receiving a scholarship/award as part of a collaborative programme with your home institution.

The award is applicable to each subsequent academic year of study, subject to achieving 60% (wmg) or above and achieving a minimum of 120 credits in the previous academic year. This excludes any years in industry or study abroad periods.

• The scholarship will not be applied during any optional or compulsory study abroad periods or year in industry.

• You must enter a degree programme at the University of Sheffield in year 1. If you are entering in year 2, you would be eligible for this scholarship, providing you are not receiving a scholarship/award as part of a collaborative programme with your home institution.

• The scholarship will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.

• You must be self-funded and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.

• You must not be a sponsored student.

The scholarship is a competitive award worth £10,000 towards the tuition fee of an undergraduate programme starting in September 2024. The scholarship is available for new students joining the University in 2024 from a Pennon school in China. You must hold an offer to study at the University of Sheffield before you apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

• You must receive an offer to study a full-time or part-time undergraduate degree or foundation degree programme at the University of Sheffield commencing in September 2024.

• All undergraduate degree courses are eligible with the exceptions of Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).

• Your degree/foundation programme must be scheduled to commence at the University of Sheffield in September 2024.

• You must receive an offer for a course studied in full at the University of Sheffield. Degree programmes split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution are not eligible to apply for a scholarship.

• For tuition fee purposes you must be self-funded and eligible to pay the overseas tuition fee.

• You must not be a sponsored student.

• You must enter a degree programme at the University of Sheffield in programme year 1 or year 2.

• For scholarship purposes all MArch programmes are considered as postgraduate taught programmes and are not eligible for any undergraduate scholarships.

• The University of Sheffield reserves the right to review and change scholarship provision.

The University of Sheffield offers Sanctuary Scholarships for those who have sought refuge in the UK - for example, students who have been displaced or affected by a conflict in their home country or have another reason for their forced migration to the UK.

The 10 fully-funded Sanctuary Scholarships for 2024 entry cover the cost of tuition and provide a £9,840 award to support living costs for each year of study.

This scholarship was formerly known as the Asylum Seeker Scholarship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship you must:

• have been granted humanitarian protection or limited leave to remain in the UK, be a dependant or partner of someone with humanitarian protection or limited leave to remain, or you or your parent/guardian or partner are an asylum seeker and have submitted a claim within the UK for refugee status and have not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application

• have applied for asylum on arrival in the UK, and before you have applied for a place at university

• currently attend a school, college or community/voluntary group that will provide a reference in support of your application

• hold an offer from the University of Sheffield to study an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course starting in September 2024*

• be studying at degree level in the UK for the first time (applicable to undergraduate students only)**

• not be eligible to receive support from a UK funding agency, such as Student Finance England

*Students who require a foundation or conversion course as part of their offer to study at the University should contact us to discuss their eligibility.

**Please contact the Student Fees and Funding Team if you have withdrawn from a previous course.

You are not eligible to apply for the scholarship if:

• you have exhausted all appeal rights and have not submitted a fresh claim for asylum or an application to remain in the UK under another immigration category. If your status changes at any stage of the application process you must notify us immediately.

• you have a ‘no study’ immigration bail condition or a ‘restricted study’ condition that prohibits study in higher education.

We're offering 100+ scholarships worth £10,000 each for home fee-paying students starting a taught postgraduate course in 2024.

These scholarships are for students who meet at least one of our widening participation criteria and/or students who achieve a first in their undergraduate degree.

If your application is successful, you can use the scholarship towards fees or living expenses – the choice is yours.

Eligibility criteria

You can apply for a scholarship if you meet all of the following four criteria:

• You will be studying a taught postgraduate course full-time or part-time for a maximum of four years.

• You are paying the 'home' rate of fees.

• You are not already qualified at masters level or higher.

• You are self funded. Courses funded by the NHS, the Initial Teacher Training bursary, or courses that are eligible for undergraduate funding (such as integrated masters) are not eligible.

And one or both of the following:

• You are from a group that is evidentially under-represented among the institution's taught masters population - see the widening participation criteria below.

• You have already achieved or currently predicted a first class undergraduate degree - see the academic merit criteria below.

Academic merit criteria

You are eligible to apply for the academic merit element of the scholarship if you achieve, or are predicted, a first in your undergraduate degree.

If you are awarded a scholarship, we will require an academic transcript as evidence to confirm you achieved a first.

As part of the application process, the admissions team will assess the application, including the personal statement. Candidates will be also assessed by their performance at their interview with the MBA admissions team.
